The organizing committee of Corri La Vita wishes you a wonderful summer and reminds you to save the date, and start training for the next walk/marathon on Sunday September 27, 2009.
July 29, 2009 ? Today was announced the date for the 7th edition of Corri La Vita, a charity event to raises funds for breast cancer. Corri La Vita (literally translated means Run for Life) is a walk/marathon and is organized in collaboration with LILT - the Italian Cancer Society, CE.RI.ON.- Oncological Rehabilitation Centre and File - Italian Palliative Foundation. This special event is where sport and social conscience come together, a unique opportunity for participants to have fun while keeping in mind the reality we share every day with the fight against breast cancer.
This fun event is organized by Firenze Marathon and is differentiated by length and difficulty; participants may choose between a walk of approximately 6 kms, weaving through the city both north and south of the river with stops along the way, such as private gardens, palaces and churches which are opened especially for this occasion to visit and enjoy. The run of approximately 10 kms. is for both competitive and non competitive runners
Every year a new colour and design is created especially for the official Corri La Vita T shirt, and this year, for the first time, more than 2,400 virtual friends on Facebook selected "Orange" because of its "energy, vitality and radiates warmth"
This new "Orange T shirt" has already enthusiastically been worn by a famous Italian football player Fillippo Inzaghi and his equally famous girl friend Alessia Ventura, Sergio Munzi the actor, and winner of the very popular TV show "Island of the Famous", Senator Bobby Kennedy's grandson Bobby Kennedy III who is directly involved in environmental and civic issues, Umberto Pellizzari diver and host to numerous under water TV programs, Jimmy Ghione the combative reporter of the famous TV program ?Striscia La Notizia? and Andrea Agresti singer, to name just a few of the new ?supporters? of Corri La Vita. The world famous fashion house of Salvatore Ferragamo still remains our most prestigious sponsor donating 12,000 T shirts to our participants last year, and with 14,000 being projected for this year.
We are also planning other events to raise funds and awareness of Corri La Vita. One of these will be an auction sponsored by the exhibitors of the XXVI edition of Biennale Antique Fair in Palazzo Corsini and Christies Auction House. On September 26th Viscount David Linley, the president of Christies Auction House will be presiding over the auction of the items donated by the exhibitors and all proceeds will be donated to Corri La Vita.
